Welcome to the Fairbank - Kerr Genealogy Website!
My Name is Jennifer J. (Fairbank) Kerr. My Husband is Travis F.C. Kerr. My family has never been very close knit. No weekend barbecues and holiday parties. All of us living a decent distance away from each other really prevented things like that. I think this is the reason I became so interested in my family's past. It is a way to connect with my own history and a way to hear the stories of great-grandparents and distant cousins I never knew myself.
I started researching around the year 2000. New millenium and a new hobby I guess... New direction in life. Since then I have pieced together a good bit of info here and there. I mostly use RootsWeb and Family Search (see the Links section). I have not been able to travel to all the places that my ancestors are from so hard proof and 100% evidence is sometimes not available to link everyone together. However I try to make things as acurate as possible and I do believe that most if not all of my family files are correct. Where a source is available it is listed.
I recently started trying to piece together my husband's family which is not easy because every says they don't know names, dates nor places for anyone other than themselves pretty much. This makes things very difficult. I did however find one man online named Arleigh Kerr who actually had the Kerr line traced back several generations which has helped me greatly and I truely appreciate his effort and research. Many of the photos on this site are from his genealogy pages, so please check the copyright page for details on those.
For the purposes of this site I have done MY Genealogy from the perspective of my adoptive father. I know little about my biological father because my parents were divorced by the time I was cognisant of anything and I have never spoken to him. I was raised by my biological grandmother and her second husband. These are the people I know as my Mother and Father and so it is on this site. However on my Rootsweb Gedcom files (downloadable from any page of this site) the information is correct from a biological standpoint.
I hope that you find our site informative and that it maybe helps you fill some of your own gaps. I know that I am appreciative of every little line of info anyone has posted that I was able to use to further my own pursuit. For more detailed information on anything you see here please visit my RootsWeb family pages listed in the Links section and on the following pages.
This site is arranged first by side of the family (Jennifer's side or Travis' side) and then again by side of the family (mother's or father's) and will follow that pattern through out. It is divided into two Main sections and then each of those into two parts. At this point additional family surname information is provided as well as family trees. At the family tree stage you can then select further detailed information on individuals.
