Blar. Went here with my exhusband, stayed in a shitty hotel. We got lost in traffic AS USUAL. My (at that time) best friend Katie went with us, she slept almost the entire time, even when we weren't driving for long stretches. She didn't come back with us though she stayed the week at her aunt's house.
I actually enjoyed the trip to Miami, even though it was with my ex... the fun was the activities we did and really has nothing to do with him being there. I'd always kind of wanted to go to Miami... it seems so culturally diverse and everything looks so ... tropical. lol. It really WAS beautiful when we got there. Especially South Beach! I loved it! We ate at a little Cuban place called Puerto Sagua and walked around. We really jam-packed this vacation and stayed busy... that's the way I like it, it's expensive to travel and I don't like to waste any time. lol.
We went to the Miami MetroZoo and the Miami Seaquarium. Both were really neat! At the seaquarium Katie sat down and got shit all over by a seagull... then as soon as she got all cleaned up, another one shit all over her. Good times. This is where Flipper was filmed. The dolphin show was really cool and this was the first time I saw an orca whale and a baby manatee! The zoo was really top notch as well, first time I saw a giant tortise!
My favorite part of the entire trip was the Vizcaya Renaissance Festival at the GORGEOUS Vizcaya Mansion... OH... just OH! It's done in an Italian Renaissance theme, it is so beautiful there I can't even describe it! That night we went to a really cool outdoor mall called the Bayside Marketplace and ate at the Hard Rack Cafe, it was good. They had a store there at the mall that sold things like real skulls, real fossilized dinosaur eggs and they heven had a stuffed giraffe... from the shoulders up, it was real. The place is called Art by God.
The last day we dropped Katie off at her aunts and stopped at a fish store (saltwater fish and reef creatures are WAY cheaper in Miami) and got some stock for our tank and headed home.
